It’s 1946 in Hell’s Kitchen in New York City. Cosmo Carboni, the eldest of the 3 Carboni brothers, is lamenting what he sees as them now not residing up to their capacity. Big speakme Cosmo hustles and panhandles for money. Brooding Lenny Carboni, an injured veteran whose sullen mind-set stems from his time within the conflict, is an undertaker. And youngest Victor Carboni, the easy muscle-man who wouldn’t harm a fly except he’s annoyed, is an iceman. Victor looks to Lenny and his Chinese-American lady friend Susan Chow as his voices of purpose. After Victor holds his personal against wrestler Frankie the Thumper in an arm wrestling healthy, Frankie who’s visible as the strongest guy in the neighborhood, and after seeing the lucrative wrestling matches – that are more like avenue fights without regulations – on the underground nightclub referred to as Paradise Alley, Cosmo receives it into his head that wrestling can be Victor’s calling and a manner for them all to get out of Hell’s Kitchen for proper. The brothers would act as instructor and supervisor. Lenny, doing it only to ensure Victor’s safety, and Victor, who is rechristened “Kid Salami”, ultimately agree. But in place of bonding the brothers closer together, the wrestling lifestyles and their courting to a taxi dancer named Annie threatens to tear them apart as their priorities start to diverge. And a wrestling suit with Frankie, who, along with his sadistic manager, Stitch Malone, treats it as a grudge in shape, may also threaten Victor’s life altogether. tt0078056
